The discovery of new paints is always exciting for an artist. This painting is one of the earlier attempt using Daniel Smith watercolor, especially the Lunar series, the textures (in the background) is just unbelievable. Somehow focusing on the background rather than the flower seems wrong, but the eyes just can't seem to stay away from the violet background, thus making the flower more Yellow than it is.
