This early watercolor of Bird of Paradise was focusing on the granulating green - Viridian. There are many design elements here that would be considered breaking the rules. The tip that touches the edge of the border, the sharp top-left tip that points to the corner thus bringing the viewer out of the painting, etc. etc. But for the simple granulating wash in the middle, that's enough to hold audience.
